On June 8, Sweden’s Princess Madeleine married New York banker Chris O’Neill in a glittering ceremony in Stockholm.

The bride’s highly-anticipated dress was a custom lace Valentino (and stunning) gown.

Fun fact: Valentino flew into Stockholm on a private jet with The Greek Royal Family.

Princess Madeleine lives and works in New York City, where she met her husband Chris O’Neill. Chris was offered a title by The King of Sweden, Carl Gustav, however he declined it. Princess Madeleine will also not be taking her husband’s last name, and will remain Princess Madeleine of Sweden.

The pair left the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage, waving happily to the thousands of spectators who had gathered.

The wedding was also a “tiara event” (meaning that it was White Tie formal), and glittering with members of various royal families and, of course, the Swedish Royal Family.

The Scandinavian royal families are all very close cousins, and have all been in attendance at each other’s weddings. Crown Princess Victoria is particularly close with her cousins, who are closer in age to her.

In keeping with her usual routine, Queen Elizabeth (of the UK and Common Wealth Realms) sent her son The Earl of Wessex and his wife The Countess of Wessex (Prince Edward and Sophie) as her representative. The Countess wore the Canadian Aquamarine Tiara.
