As expected, The Queen is overjoyed by the birth of her third great-grandchild, and third in line to the throne – Prince George.
She’s so overjoyed, in fact, that she’s celebrating with champagne lunches at each of her three official residences. Her staff at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and Holyrood Palace (in Scotland) all enjoyed celebratory bubbly last week during working hours – and they certainly enjoyed it.
One palace insider says,
“We were all invited to have a glass of champagne in the staff dining room but when we saw we could be there for two hours we obviously wanted to have a few. Everyone was in a fantastic mood and we all toasted the baby, the parents and the Queen. It was a fabulous gesture of her and everyone appreciated it.
Normally we wouldn’t condone drinking on the job, but when your boss is Her Majesty The Queen, and she’s the one throwing the party … well, why not?
