Trouble In Paradise For Prince and Princess of Spain?

Is there trouble in paradise for Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Spain?

Sources are reporting that the princess has fled the island of Mallorca while the rest of the royal family remains in residence, heading first to Madrid and then to Switzerland. From there, her whereabouts are unknown, and it’s unclear whether she remained in Switzerland, or if that was just a stopping point en route to a more private destination.

Letizia’s sudden departure has rumors swirling that things between her and Felipe are not well, with sources saying that she’s feeling overwhelmed by her royal responsibilities. It probably doesn’t help matters that Letizia’s reputation in Spain is not as favorable as her husbands, and that her in-laws are going through a bit of a public upheaval with their reputation as well. The sources are speculating that Letizia has decided to head off to a more remote destination to ponder her relationship with her husband and her duties to the country in privacy, without distraction.

The trip for the royal family is not a typical vacation. In fact, the yearly visit to Mallorca is actually part of their official duties. The entire family converges there for a few weeks in the summer, undertaking some royal engagements while also enjoying the area, and then usually head off on private vacations of their own. This year, however, Letizia only spent five days on the island before leaving her husband, daughters, and in-laws and making the journey across Europe.
