Glam NYFW Manis

As is to be expected, the gorgeous threads draped across models gliding down the runway are the focal point of New York Fashion Week, but there’s another area that’s getting a ton of focus – the model’s hands. Brands such as butterLONDON and Essie are helping deck out the digits of fashion’s finest as they walk the runways. And – for the most part – they aren’t just getting a slick coat of nude or black polish either.

Monique Lhuillier, a designer known for her whimsical and graceful pieces, opted for a more traditional look, as did Louis Goldin, but other brands – such as Nicole Miller and Lela Rose – decided to add some serious flare. butterLONDON’s Global Colour Ambassador, Katie Jane Hughes, let us in on her inspiration and secrets for these runway worthy manis.

Designer: MONIQUE LHUILLIER

The Scoop: The collection was inspired by sheer elegance through the use of bright, bold colours in clean and modern silhouettes with feminine details.

The Look: Katie first applied a coat of butter LONDON Nail Foundation followed by two coats butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Pink Ribbon. The soft nail look was juxtaposed by a bright red on the toes. Katie used butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Pillar Box Red.

Designer: NICOLE MILLER

The Scoop: The collection was inspired by the opulence, glamour and beauty of Versailles – the gardens, mirrors, mazes and chandeliers.

The Look: Katie first applied a layer butter LONDON’s new Nail Lacquer in The 444 . To create a cascading effect she used butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in The Black Knight and applied upward from the tip of the nail. She lightly dabbed the nail lacquer where the two shades met to blend the look. Finally, she reapplied The Black Knight to finish the ombre effect.

The Scoop: The collection was inspired by mid-century, modern furniture design. The Look: Katie created two looks for the runway:

Look 1: Katie applied two coats of butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Lady Muck and finished the look with the butter LONDON Matte Finish Shine Free Topcoat.

Look 2: Katie applied butter LONDON Nail Foundation to create a clean, nude base. She then used butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Lady Muck to create a half moon effect.
