Swedish Royal Wedding | The Royal Blogtini

It’s here, it’s finally here! The last royal wedding that we’re likely to see for a while – the Swedish Royal Wedding. Prince Carl Philip, the only son of The King of Sweden, is marrying his longtime love Sofia Hellqvist – a woman with a slightly speckled past.

(For those keeping track at home, there are a few royals of marriageable age – Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice of York, and Princess Eugenie of York. The Princesses both have longtime boyfriends and we could see an engagement for one of them any day now, but Prince Harry has been single since breaking up with Cressida Bonas. There’s also Charlotte Casigrahi who is the niece of Prince Albert of Monaco and has been dating her boyfriend for a few years. And I won’t count out the Greek royals – but they’re all a bit too young.)

First up, let’s take a look at the bride and groom!  Sofia – who will become Princess Sofia of Sweden upon her wedding tomorrow – looks absolutely gorgeous in this blue gown, while her husband looks handsome (as always)

Sofia’s future sisters-in-law both wore Elie Saab for their Pre-Wedding Dinners, but the next Swedish Princess bucked the trend and instead went with Zuhair Murad, who The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor called “almost Elie Saab” – and I couldn’t agree more. I positively drooool over Zuhair Murad pieces on Pinterest, and he’s right up there with Elie Saab as one of my favorite evening-wear designers. They both create gowns with such clean lines that are sophisticated and elegant, and then they hit you with the bling, or the bit of sheerness (or both) and … ugh, I just love it!

Now Sofia – she of the questionable past (think lots of bikinis and skin) – did have this gown altered a bit for her royal occasion. The original has a super-duper high slit, whereas Sofia’s regal version has a slit to just above the knee.

Next up are His Majesty, King Carl Gustav and Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden – the Groom’s parents. I don’t necessarily love Silvia’s shiny green pant suit – but it isn’t the worst thing we’ve seen a Queen wear to one of these things, so I’ll let it go.

Finally, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden with her husband, Prince Daniel, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway. Lucky Prince Daniel! And seriously, how gorgeous do these two ladies look? I am particularly in love with Victoria’s gown, which is by Jenny Packham – a particular favorite of The Duchess of Cambridge (nee Kate Middleton).

There are some photos floating around of Princess Madeleine and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, who recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary – but I have yet to find them on Getty. I will update this post with more photos as they become available!
