Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge, is set to leave his post in the military completely in the coming weeks.
As we reported earlier, Prince William is officially leaving the RAF. However, we were previously under the impression that he would be taking a position with the Household Cavalry so that he could remain in London while still undertaking military duties. It appears now, though, that William is ready to take on his royal duties full-time, as he will not – at this time – be accepting a position with any other branch of the military.
First on the Prince’s agenda is to “expand his work in the field of conservation.” Like his father, Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, Prince William is dedicated to conserving wildlife and endangered species, and has brought together seven of the world’s foremost conservation organizations in conjunction with The Foundation of The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, to form United for Wildlife. The aim of this new partnership is to safeguard natural resources for future generations, with the first task being to shed light on illegal wildlife trade.
Tonight, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be attending the inaugural Tusk Conservation Awards, held by Tusk Trust, one of the charities that William has been most passionate about throughout his career. The Duke will be presenting two awards during the ceremony.
According to the press release issued by Clarence House, Prince William, along with his wife Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton) and their infant son Prince George, are scheduled to move into their new apartment in Kensington Palace “within the next few weeks.”
