Her Majesty, The Queen and her son, HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, are about to undertake a unique and historic job-share.
As The Queen begins to age, it has been decided that her office and her son’s office will merge to form one cohesive unit. The reasoning for this is that “when the time comes” there will be a more seamless transition of power.
However, it is incredibly important to note that this transition does not signal that The Queen has any plans to abdicate, nor is she in ill-health. However, as a woman in her late 80’s it seems that she realizes that her workload must get a bit smaller, and there’s no time like the present to realign work responsibilities.
In addition to the new work-share, Prince Charles’ wife, HRH Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall, will also be ramping up her responsibilities. It’s rumored that in the coming weeks and months she will begin doing more joint-engagements with The Queen so that she can adequately prepare for her future role as Queen Consort.
