Today, the British Royal Family, along with members of the Belgian and Spanish royal families, marked the date that Great Britain declared war on Germany during World War I, in response to the German invasion of Belgium.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince William and Kate Middleton) flew to Belgium this morning to take part in services with The King and Queen of The Belgians (King Philippe and Queen Mathilde). The group arrived in Liege, and The Duke of Cambridge delivered a speech to an audience that included King Felipe of Spain, and German President Joachim Gauck.
From there, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their way to Mons, where Prince Harry – who had earlier been taking part in services in England – met up with them for more commemorative events.
Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, was also out today in his full military dress uniform, leading services in Glasgow, Scotland while Queen Elizabeth II partook in a commemoration service at Crathie Kirk Church in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, took part in a service at Sandringham Church.
