Miner #21

So as the entire world watches with baited breath as the 33 Chilean miners are pulled from their home of 69 days [EDIT: IT’S 1/2 MILE!, MY BAD!]2 miles underground, I was particularly anxious to see the “homecoming” of miner #21. This particular man is married. This particular man also has a mistress. And this particular man’s wife and mistress found out about each other, and met, when they were keeping vigil at the site of the collapsed mine. The miner’s wife at the time stated that she would NOT be waiting for him when he finally came back up to civilization, and that his mistress could be there to greet him.

Thanks to the wonder that is Twitter (follow me!) I was alerted when Miner #21 was about to be pulled from the Earth in the rescue pod and was able to watch his rescue and subsequent make-out session with a woman on international TV. I’m not really one for PDA, but the guy’s been trapped 2-miles below the earth for over 2 months, so I let it slide.

According to Fox News – Philadepphia, Miner 21 invited (… did people really need an invitation to this thing?) both his wife and mistress to his rescue. When his wife found this out, she gave the following statement: “I am happy because he made it, it’s a miracle of God. But I’m not going to see the rescue,” she told a newspaper reporter. “He asked me to, but it turns out that he also asked the other lady, and I am a decent woman. Things are clear: it’s her or me.”  We can, therefore, assume that the woman he made-out with so publicly, was his mistress, not his wife. Additionally, while watching the video I noted that Mr. 21 looked disappointed by his welcome wagon, and his mistress looked like she was trying to make some type of statement… probably something along the lines of “I WIN!” – but you were his mistress for 10 years, so I am not impressed.
