Awkward
-
When you’re reading your Google feed on your work computer as you get to a salacious post, specifically, Barstool Sports daily “Guess That Ass” feature [site kinda NSFW] featuring the newest Sports Illustrated Bikini cover model. And you’re frantically trying to scroll past the post, and someone walks up behind you, and then your ancient computer freezes… and you look like a pervert.
-
Not knowing the names of some of your co-workers 3 weeks into employment. And they’re super nice to you & say “hi” every time they walk by. Whoops.
-
Never hearing back from a place you interviewed at, that you felt you were a shoe-in for the job. Ok – this isn’t really so much “awkward” as “sucky”.
-
Having someone ask you when you graduated, and then when you reply, that you graduated in December 2008, one semester early, having them be astounded that you were referring to college, while they were referring to high school, thus making you feel like your college education is worthless, because apparently no one expects that you could have attended college.
-
Coming back to work after your lunch break with burns all over your arms from standing too close to a gas fireplace & having to hold ice packs on your arms for over an hour. (Note: I did not TOUCH the fireplace, I just stood too close to it for about 10 minutes.)
Awesome
-
Having a great Valentine’s date with your awesome boyfriend & having the restaurant you go to make his favorite meal, even though it wasn’t on the menu that night. (Shout out to my sister who is the manager of said restaurant!)
-
Getting compliments on your favorite sweater. Compliments are always awesome – always!
-
Working 5 minutes from home. Seriously, it’ll never get old. Best. Commute. Ever.
-
Having a job, & thus having money, & being able to say things like “I need to buy new shoes” & just doing it! (Uhm, except I’ve been too lazy to go to the mall, but I swear I’m going to do it soon!)
-
Having the weather randomly decide it wants to cooperate & be nice to you, thus allowing for spring-ish days in the middle of February. Wonderful!
-
Being able to stay actively involved in your sorority (as an advisor) when you’ve been out of college for 2+ years.
