I never thought in a million years I would say this, but I feel bad for the reporters that have been assigned to Royal Baby Watch 2013.
Some of them have been stationed outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London for 21 days now.
It was expected that Kate would be delivering on July 13, although that information has turned out to be patently false. (It should be noted that that date was also seemingly picked out of thin air by a certain newspaper after Kate told an onlooker at one of her engagements that the baby was due in “mid-July.”)
Each time there’s a helicopter sighted anywhere near Kensington Palace, the official London residence of Kate and her husband, Prince William, Twitter breaks into a frenzy. There is a live-feed of the doors of the Lindo Wing available for viewing through various London newspapers, so people around the world can see the moment Kate’s motorcade pulls up … if she even arrives via something as conventional as the front door.
It’s entirely possible that she’ll be ushered in a less public entrance – after all, she’ll be in the early stages of labor, and it’s doubtful that having her photo taken would be her first priority.
We will, of course, keep you updated as soon as we hear anything about The Duchess going into labor – but at this stage it’s truly a waiting game.
