It’s finally happened. We’ve got our first glimpse into what Prince George’s room will look like.
Well – kind of. According to the Burnham and Highbridge Weekly, a painting by artist Tazia Fawley has been selected by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to adorn Prince George’s room.
The painting, “Rupert Flies Over the Clifton Suspension Bridge,” was done by Fawley – a member of Heart and Sold, a charity supporting and showcasing artists with Down’s Syndrome – several years ago. When news that Kate had gone into the hospital broke, Heart and Sold’s director, Suzy Moffat, sent a photograph of the portrait to St. James’ Palace, asking if The Duke and Duchess would like to receive the painting as a gift, and they responded that they would.
For her part, the artist was quite surprised by the news, telling a reporter,
I was surprised, excited, at first unsure but then I got used to the idea. I never expected it. It was a painting I really liked. I thought I did it pretty well, and I’d got attached to it. It’s a nice feeling.
