The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince William and Kate Middleton), along with their infant son Prince George, are moving! And they aren’t just getting once new home, but two.
At long last, the renovations on their Kensington Palace apartment have finally been completed. It’s expected that Kate, William, and George will be moving into their new London base later this week, upon their return from Balmoral.
Meanwhile, construction has begun in earnest at Anmer Hall, which is suspected to be The Cambridges’ future country home. It is thought that the family will reside primarily at Kensington Palace, and will spend weekends at Anmer. Similarly, Princes William and Harry grew up spending their weekends at their father’s country estate – Highgrove House. During the week, when they were not away at boarding school, they lived at Kensington Palace.
In addition to re-routing the driveway and creating a new parking lot for the village church that is on the premises (and currently shares a driveway with the home), new plans for renovations call for a glass-roofed conservatory (which may replace the currently existing conservatory), which will feature a large table as it’s centerpiece.
For the historically minded of us, it’s interesting to note that there is currently an archaeological dig taking place where the proposed driveway is anticipated to be built, since the village of Anmer dates back to pre-Norman times. It’s quite common in the UK for archaeological digs to take place any time a construction project in a historic area is set to take place.
