Talk about riding in style! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have recently leased a new car to take them to and from engagements, and possibly in other instances where they are being chauffeured as opposed to driving themselves.
Their new vehicle – a Bentley ‘Flying Spur’ – costs approximately $406,000 is essentially a top-of-the-line luxury tank. In addition to a hand-crafted walnut and leather interior and wi-fi capabilities, the car is also bulletproof, has tired that will continue to be inflated if they are punctured, and costs about $200 to fill the tank. A tank which, by the way, will only get you about 19 miles per gallon.
While it may not be the most environmentally friendly vehicle (which is surprising, due to Prince William’s commitment to conservation efforts), it does boast other amenities, such as heated seats with a massage feature.
The royals are taking advantage of their station by being provided with one of the first cars to roll off the assembly line, a full six months before it’s available to the public. They’re also being afforded the option to lease the vehicle directly from Bentley (rather than a dealership), which is a common arrangement in royal circles.
With the addition of Prince George to the royal family, The Duke and Duchess were understandably keen to make their travels as safe as possible without sacrificing style.
