Anna Wintour, the personification of fashion itself, has just received a huge honor. She doesn’t actually own The Met, but The Costume Institute Center at The Met – which the famous Met Gala (aka The Costume Institute Gala) benefits has been renamed in her honor.
To be clear, it’s the exhibit space itself that is being renamed, the curatorial department in charge of exhibits and business will still be known as The Costume Institute.
Considering the fact that Wintour has raised over $125million for The Costume Institute in recent years (thanks in no small part to The Met Gala itself), renaming the event space after her is a no-brainer move.
