Apparently, the New York Times is going to be devoting a reporter to a new beat:
covering the notoriously elite prep schools in NYC. And all I can say is – ABOUT TIME! I pretty much live for all things glitz and glamor – and I’m talking old school, East Coast, prep. Not any of that LA “LOOK AT ME!” crap, or the down south, big haired debutante thang (although, I sometimes joke with my mom that I was probably a deb in another life – but from somewhere like Virginia. And my parents in a former life owned a ginormous plantation – but w/o the messy slave situation, because they were probably very nice people).
Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines, Tory Burch … these are the preppy things I live for, and these are the things that the NYC prep school kids epitomize.
So I am guessing, because this will be appearing in an reputable publication, the new NYC private school column of the NY Times (and yes, I realize I only linked to the Style section – but isn’t that the only part of the newspaper that’s relevant?) will be just as addicting for me as Gossip Girl books/TV show & the short-lived Bravo! show NYC Prep.
To be clear – I do not live in NYC. I never went to prep school (although I have also asked my parents a million times why they never were the types of parents to threaten me with boarding school, I would have gone in a heart beat!). My parents aren’t gazillionaires. I actually do not own a pair of Tory Burch flats – although I would if I could in a second.
“without the messy slave situation” I laughed my butt off! Love it!
OHMYGOD! I love this. I'm freaking obsessed with east coast prep schools having gone to the watered-down west coast version myself. This is going to be like the Curtis Sittenfeld novel that doesn't end. WIN!
