So – what did you get for your fourth birthday? I don’t remember what I got for mine – but I’m sure it was something completely normal, like a Barbie Doll or some play-doh or something.
Why do I ask?
Well, because tonight – as I was doing everything in the world except for my homework – I tuned into The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and watched as Taylor and Kyle planned birthday parties for their daughters who are 4 and 2 respectively.
Both women hired party planners, and both went a over the top. Kyle brought in a whole petting zoo and of course had a custom cake – none of that Carvel crap for her kid.
But if what Kyle did was “over the top”, then what Taylor did was completely out of this world. Her daughter’s 4th birthday party cost a grand total of $60,000 (according to Bravo)! That’s the cost of my entire undergraduate education!
Miss Taylor rented out the Houdini Mansion for the party (which is apparently $10,000 per event), bought each of the “little girl” guests (all 25 of them!) custom Barbie necklaces, brought in a party planner who plans shindigs like the Emmy’s after-party to put together a “Mad Hatter” theme complete with a band, caterers, a full bar (for the parents) and, of course, the requisite custom cake. AND – the little girl got a puppy and a diamond Barbie necklace (uh yeah, THAT was a worthwhile investment…)!
The best part? Taylor’s daughter (who’s name escapes me – whatever) had NO interest in any of it.
So – Taylor, if you feel like maybe you’d like to throw $60k birthday parties for someone who will appreciate it, I will put myself up for adoption. Everyone wants to adopt a 23 year old, right?
