VMA Fashion Recap

{Note: Blogger has changed their interface. I don’t know if I like it or not… I’m actually kind of confused by it, even though it’s supposed to make my life easier… just felt the need to share.}

This past Sunday evening, MTV hosted the 2011 Video Music Awards, which is weird considering the fact that MTV barely plays any music videos anymore (except in the early hours of the morning).

Alright – so let’s just jump right into it, shall we?

My absolute favorite look of the night was Selena Gomez’s black Julien MacDonald creation. Absolutely. Stunning. That’s pretty much all I’ve got to say about it. I was enthralled.

Her second look of the evening (seen here while presenting an award with ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner), a Jenny Packham design, was just as beautiful, but after knocking it out of the park in the first gown, it just seemed a little lackluster.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison.

I also thought that Demi Lovato, who is making her return to the spotlight after a stint in rehab earlier this year for an eating disorder and “emotional problems,” looked phenomenal. There are those within the Twitto/Blogosphere that are saying she looked fat. I thought she looked healthy and absolutely gorgeous.

So, here’s a few more pictures of my favorite (and not so favorite) looks of the night, after the jump! Let me know what YOU thought of the 2011 MTV VMA fashion choices.
{PS: I am not even going to bother writing about Lady Gaga. She dressed like a dude – I got it. She didn’t make an attractive dude, but I guess it’s better than when she dresses in real animal meat, or hatches herself from an egg, or looks like … I dunno, a burning red candle?)

It’s Britney, Bitch.
Britney Spears looked cute in her sparkley shorts and shirt. Not the best VMA outfit she’s ever worn (here’s some of her performance costumes, and one of my favorite red carpet looks), but she’s 30 with 2 kids – so I’d say she’s doing alright. She looked happy & healthier than she’s looked in a while, and that’s the most important thing!
Beyonce
Bey announced her pregnancy (quite coyly, I might add) both on the “black carpet,” and at the end of her performance by showing off her new baby-bump. I enjoyed this much more than when celebrities deny it into month 7 of the pregnancy (here’s looking at you, Mariah Carey).

Katy Perry
Uhm- she looked cute. I like the pink color of her hair. But I don’t quite understand… was it Halloween? Did she think there was some weird theme? And WHAT was with the yellow cube on her head while she was receiving her award? Was it heavy? Did it hurt? Did it make it hard to balance?

Miley Cyrus
I’m not really sure how I feel about this dress. It was certainly figure hugging, and she has a great figure… but it a) made her look much older than she is (in a bad way), and b) there were far too many different prints going on. Animal print + floral print = confusion to my brain cells.
