Spring Wedding Dresses

Relax, this is unfortunately not a post about wedding gowns, but rather dresses to wear as the guest at a wedding.

In May I’ll be attending one of my sorority sister’s weddings, and I absolutely can’t wait! I love any excuse to get dressed up (especially since I wear jeans to work) – in fact, I like getting dressed up so much that even though the wedding is over 1 month away, I decided I needed to find my dress now.

Unfortunately, I faced a couple challenges with finding a perfect dress:

  1. I don’t want to wear black – I’ve got a zillion LBDs in my closet.
  2. This season’s major trends – neon and boho chic – have infiltrated everything, including the dress category. I don’t think the bride would appreciate me showing up in a hot pink dress (although I did find a couple really cute ones.)
  3. I was looking for a dress that was fancy, but not overly formal, and I could snazz-up on my own, with the right accessories.
Ultimately, I chose the one I decided on because it was perfect for an evening wedding in early spring, it fit the criteria of being fancy, but not super dramatic/formal, and I can definitely wear it again.
Below are the 7 dresses I was deciding between (and yes, I fell in love with that black one, even though I didn’t want to wear a black dress).

  1. Her Grace Rosette Dress – Ruche – $66.00 (This is the dress I chose!) Day or Evening
  2. Palace Rose Chiffon Dress – Ruche – $59.99 Day or Evening
  3. Free People ‘Rose Garden’ Cotton Sateen Eyelet Dress – Nordstrom  – $138.00 Day
  4. Maggy London Side Bow Stretch Satin Sheath Dress – Nordstrom – $128.00 (I know, it’s black – but oh my gosh it’s lovely!) Evening
  5. Adrianna Papell Tiered Iridescent Chiffon Dress – Nordstrom – $138.00 Evening
  6. Pisarro Nights Beaded Illusion Cocktail Dress – Nordstrom – $148.00 Evening
  7. Jessica Simpson Split Sleeve Sheath Dress – Nordstrom – $128.00 Day or Evening
