Move over Kardashians, you’re about to be bumped from your spot atop the biggest names in reality TV.
That’s because the biggest name in fashion is set to invade the airways next year, in a totally unlike-her move. Anna Wintour, along with J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons and and designer Diane von Furstenberg, has inked a deal with Ovation TV for a six-part series to follow the ten finalists of the CFDA Fashion Fund competition from start to finish. The prize of the show is, of course, winning the CFDA Fashion Fund award, which is $300,000 and a year working with one of fashion’s great names.
The CEO of Ovation TV – Robert Weiss – recently said,
“This is the real deal. There have been a lot of fashion competition series on television, but nothing comes close to matching the authenticity and talent found in The Fashion Fund. It’s truly an honor to be working with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.”
Weiss’s statement hits on an interesting point – there have been many fashion reality TV programs, but none have ever been based on a competition within the industry that’s already deeply ensconced within the industry with its own level of prestige.
Will you be tuning into the program?
