Sarah, Duchess of York, spend the weekend at Balmoral at Her Majesty’s request.
Generally, a member of the royal family spending a weekend at The Queen’s favorite country retreat wouldn’t make headlines. However, Sarah divorced The Queen’s son, Andrew, The Duke of York, in the 1990’s amid scandalous affair rumors, and was later caught trying to sell access to the royal family.
The fact that Sarah has been invited back into the fold can only mean one of a few things. First, that Her Majesty has elected to simply forgive and forget. This may be the most unlikely scenario. Second, that Andrew and Sarah are rekindling their romance. Although they’ve been divorced for over a decade, neither of the pair has ever remarried and – in fact – they have lived in the same house ever since the divorce.
Third, and probably the most likely scenario, is that Princess Beatrice and her longtime boyfriend David Clark are planning to get married. The pair have been dating for quite some time now, and Beatrice’s recent birthday celebration had many royal watchers anxiously awaiting an engagement announcement. Now that Sarah has been invited back into The Queen’s good graces, that announcement seems all the more likely.
The fact that Sarah’s spending time at Balmoral isn’t actually entirely out of the norm. She’s been invited many times over the years, but has been “relegated to a cottage on the estate” while her ex-husband and their daughters live in the lap of luxury in “the big house.” This time, however, Sarah spent the weekend in “the big house” with the rest of her family.
Let the speculation begin!
