Unfortunately it’s time to face the facts – in most places in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s getting pretty chilly outside. Those of you living in year-round warm locales… I don’t want to speak to you right now, sorry. Keep enjoying your sunshine and tan lines. :-p

But a coat is something you (or your gift receiver) will wear almost every day from November to March. And you (or the gift receiver) will probably continue to bring out year after year. It is an article of clothing that should be an INVESTMENT, not just a purchase. Much like shoes. And a great purse. And sunglasses. (Do you see how I justify my existence?)}

I have a thing for trench coats, I just can’t help thinking they are amazingly classy – unfortunately, they aren’t usually warm enough to be worn through the winter. AND – I am short, so if they are too long they just make me look ridiculous – like a little girl playing dress up with her mom’s clothes.
But this short trench is the perfect length for a short stack like me, or a for those of us who are blessed with the ability to see over the steering wheel of the car.
The wool brings this trench into the realm of the traditional pea coat, but the sleek grey color is a nice departure from the traditional look.

Alrighty. So did you love this jacket as much as I do? It’s a nice modern take on the classic pea coat (which Express also has a nice variety of, and is also a wardrobe staple, for men and women). The military theme is very “in” right now, and this coat does a good job of capturing that without going overboard. AND – it’s super warm. (I know this because my boyfriend recently purchased this jacket, without any help from me, I might add. I know – impressive.)
