Bummer.

Well, it finally happened. I was laid off (yesterday). I say “finally” because I’ve known it was coming for a while. I say “laid off” because my mother refuses to allow me to say “fired,” lest someone think I was fired for disciplinary reasons, rather than the actual reason of “there isn’t enough work for you to do.”

To my former employer – I’d just like to point out that of course there wasn’t enough work for me to do. You’d been delegating my assignments to other employees since the beginning of November. You demoted me with little to no ceremony (or reason given), and then gave my position to someone who, unfortunately for you, has no desire to be in that position. Sweet of you, though, to let her know that she could accept the position or be laid off as well. I’m sure she appreciated that little nugget.

Also, it’s kind of ridiculous that I asked you on Tuesday afternoon what my future projects would be as I was turning in my last project (knowing the answer would be nothing), giving you the perfect opportunity to tell me not to come in the next day – or ever – but instead you let me sit at my desk staring at the wall until 1:45pm on Wednesday afternoon until you decided to pull the plug.

So, while I’m hunting for a new job I will also be able to spend more time on this lovely blog (and my two Tumblr accounts – The Blogtini Tumblr and All Royal), while working on my freelance projects that I’ve acquired in recent weeks. (Like I said, I knew this was coming and I did my best to prepare myself). I’ve also got a few interviews lined up for this week (4, to be precise), so hopefully that impressive streak will continue.

Finally, please look at this post I wrote a while back, begging the internet powers that be to throw a job my way, and let me know if you see anything that you think I might be qualified for.
